Raid Constitution

What IS Official Phoenix Raiding?

Our philosophy has been more centered around being inclusive.  Our requirements have typically been fair with an average amount of individual effort.  We want you to raid and enjoy it.  We do not need it to become your life.  Raiding is a different beast.  It has brought glory to many guilds and torn others asunder.  We would very much like to avoid the latter.

Official Phoenix Raids are scheduled by the Officers and Guild Master.  The schedule will attempt to accommodate the majority of Phoenix raiders to the best of our ability.

The Raid Leader is either an Officer/GM or can be a Member approved and appointed by the Officers/GM.

Minimum requirements to attend an Official Raid will be determined by the Officers/GM and posted on the website for all members to see.

To be clear, anyone in Phoenix is free to schedule and organize their own raids or participate in raids outside the guild.  However, if you wish to attend scheduled Official Phoenix Raids, it is expected that you will abide by the Phoenix Raid Constitution and Phoenix Guild Charter.

The Phoenix Guild Charter can be found here:

The Raid Leader is THE Raid Leader

Raiding is not a democracy.  The Raid Leader's (RL) role is to decide on a strategy and organize the team to direct and execute on that strategy.  He or she will be bombarded by many sources of input from tells, officer, raid, guild, forum posts and audio chat channels.  Oftentimes, information and ideas can conflict.  The RL will need to filter this information and make a final decision.

Our job as Phoenix Raiders is to support and follow the Raid Leader's final decision and carry out the strategy.

Be Present and Aware

Time plus Effort equals Progress

We should be adhering to this formula as much as we can as a team and as individual raiders.  Raiding is the activity that we focus on as a guild to provide group fun and accomplishment.  Choosing to raid is choosing to push yourself to continually improve, to fine tune your ability to know and follow encounter mechanics, to research your class's skills and builds to best support the team and be willing to accept constructive criticism.

The best way to maximize time spent raiding is to be early and be prepared.  Each raider should have his/her gear fully gemmed and enchanted well in advance of raid time.  You should have watched some videos in order to understand the Raid Leader's instructions.  Show up early at the instance if at all possible and be ready to go with gear repaired and consumables in your pack.

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail ~ Fenjamin Branklin

Respect and Humility

Check your ego at the door please.  Show respect for your fellow Phoenix Raider.  Their time and efforts are equally as valuable as your own.  Each of us has a varying degree of experience and skill with this game.  We will all make mistakes.

Take pride in your individual performance and accomplishments.  You deserve it.  Stay humble.  Bragging and boasting can make others feel uncomfortable and inferior.  There is a reason we discourage posting stats during a raid.  We all know that you are an exceptional warrior but no one raids alone.

Patience and Humor

These are traits we desire above all others in raiding.  We are not in a rush to finish raiding content.  We will wipe.  A lot.  HOW we get there is infinitely more important than WHEN we get there.

Raiding is designed to be a challenge.  Otherwise, what would be the point?  The journey to overcoming that challenge IS the reward.  Your humor, patience and kindness will be our most valuable assets towards defeating our most heinous foes.
